Professional Voice Actor Laurie Burke is currently in her 7th year as a TV and Voice Over Host for Common Sense Media, a company dedicated to helping kids thrive in the world of media. The wonderful field of Voice Acting has seen a huge growth in the demand for young, fresh, authentic voices in the industry. Trained Teens and kids are being sought out to do vo work for everything from cartoons to animated TV shows, films, commercials and audio books. In this half, Laurie will cover reading scripts, how the Voice Over audition process really works, how to record and deliver a script, landing agents and actual mic time!! This class will also explore overcoming shyness and stage fright and how to put passion into words to make a character or script and most importantly, how to HAVE FUN in the creative process!
Second Half:
All about On Camera commercials with Melinda Darlington-Bach!

As a model/talent scout for 16 years for Stars Agency and Management, Melinda has personally facilitated helping over 85 of her students achieve representation by SF Agents. This half of the workshop will feature current, age appropriate commercial scripts, focus on how to give the best slate and handle the interview question. All copy will be videotaped and reviewed in class with feedback and adjustments. What does your child need to do to get the callback and then book the job? With her experience, Melinda has a clear understanding of the specific needs for the Bay Area market. We are limiting the class size for maximum camera time.
Course of 1 class. Saturday November 10th. 11am-3:30pm. $200.00 There will be a 15 minute intermission and 15 minutes for Q & A with parents at the end.

Instructor: Melinda Darlington-Bach
Background: Melinda Darlington-Bach is an Emmy award-winning filmmaker, casting director, and a 25-year working veteran SAG/AFTRA actress. Starting in the business as a runway and fashion model at age16, Melinda made the seamless transition into the world of show business. In both Los Angeles and San Francisco, she has worked in over 65 national commercials, industrials and feature films. Using her superb teaching skills, Melinda has been working for the Young Actor's Theater Camp (YATC) Julie Nation Academy, California Film Institute and San Francisco Acting Academy (SFAA), teaching and coaching on-camera theatrical and commercial classes for many years. Melinda has worked closely with young talent, preparing them for important on-camera auditions, including Disney's Cloud Nine and Madison High” to Woody Allen’s Blue Jasmine

About San Francisco Acting Academy

The SF Acting Academy is a professional On Camera workshop school. Our mission: prepare actors to audition and work in the Bay Area acting market and connect those actors to the industry. Our comprehensive on-camera program includes Commercial – Voice Over- Acting Fundamentals – Audition Techniques and offers classes for actors of all ages and all experience levels. The San Francisco Acting Academy was founded in 2001 in collaboration with top casting professionals, actors and teachers in the San Francisco Bay Area. It is our goal to provide the space for both new and experienced actors to hone their on camera skills and to make them more competitive in the SFBA market by connecting our school to the industry. Over the years we have accomplished this in several ways: We offer a variety of classes geared to prepare actors for the demands of auditioning and working in the challenging Bay Area Market. Our instructors are the best in the business; not only accomplished working actors and teachers, but casting session directors, television and radio producers and theater directors. They bring a unique perspective from both sides of the performance and the casting process. Our class sizes are kept to a minimum, giving each student ample time in front of the camera and mic. All of our classes are held at Das Studio, home to Greg Cohen, Kristen Beck and Beau Bonneau Casting. Classes are taught using state of the art camera equipment and casting software, giving each actor a taste of the real world auditioning environment. And each student will have the opportunity to watch their progress on tape.
