This 4 week workshop goes virtual and just like the studio version, replicates the actual audition experience and is designed to teach and solidify those skills that will consistently result in successful readings: making specific character choices, expanding emotional range, playing precise objectives, engaging the actor’s imagination, and learning solid, dependable technique.

Stan’s style provides clear, effective instruction with no gimmicks, and he is particularly adept at focusing on each actor’s unique personality, casting type, strengths and weaknesses. Roles are tailored accordingly and will give each actor the ability to stretch in challenging directions. Actors will be paired prior to class with film and tv sides emailed in advance. Recordings of your work will be available. Course of 4 classes. Friday July 24th-August 14th. 11am-1:30pm.

Instructor: Stan Roth
Background: Stan Roth relocated to the Bay Area from Los Angeles where he taught Cold Reading, Scene Study, and Improv since 1987. He has numerous TV, film, and stage credits including 3 seasons as attorney Marvin Girard on the TV series, The Judge. He also directed many episodes of the series, as well as several critically acclaimed theatrical productions. In addition to teaching ongoing, private Cold Reading classes, Stan served on the faculties of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts West (13 years) , Theatre of Arts Academy, the Denver Center Theatre Academy, South Coast Rep, UCLA, Santa Monica College, Diane Hardin's Young Actors Space, LA County High School for the Arts, and the Acting Corps (co founder). Several of Stan's students have gone on to successful acting careers, most notably Leonardo DiCaprio, Toby Maguire, and Jeremy Davies. Rather than limit his teaching to one particular philosophy or method, his approach is designed to teach reliable acting techniques that are applicable in any acting or audition situation. About San Francisco Acting Academy

The SF Acting Academy is a professional On Camera workshop school. Our mission: prepare actors to audition and work in the Bay Area acting market and connect those actors to the industry. Our comprehensive on-camera program includes Acting Fundamentals and Auditioning Technique for Commercials, Corporate Films, Television and Films. We offer classes for actors of all ages and experience levels. The San Francisco Acting Academy was founded in 2001 in collaboration with top casting professionals, actors and teachers in the San Francisco Bay Area. It is our goal to provide the space for both new and experienced actors to hone their on camera skills and to make them more competitive in the SFBA market. We offer a variety of classes geared to prepare actors for the demands of auditioning and working in the challenging Bay Area Market. Our instructors are the best in the business; not only accomplished working actors and teachers, but casting session directors, television and radio producers and theater directors. They bring a unique perspective from both sides of the performance and casting process. Our class sizes are kept to a minimum, giving each student ample time in front of the camera and mic. All of our classes are held at Das Studio, home to Greg Cohen, Kristen Beck and Beau Bonneau Casting. Classes are taught using state of the art camera equipment and casting software, giving each actor a taste of the real world auditioning environment. And each student will have the opportunity to watch their progress on tape.
